Skin Cream and Wrinkles
What’s all this hype about anti-aging skin creams, topical botox, face lift in a jar’ Woman and men also, are spending hundreds of dollars on new products that are reputed to treat the signs of skin aging.
This article will address a few questions: Does these skin creams work’ What is the most effective cream’
Skin creams are not effective in treating deep skin furrows and lines- these respond better to Botox or plastic surgery.
So the question is, do these skin creams work’ The answer is yes and no. Skin aging as manifested by wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, loss of elasticity is often a result of “PHOTOAGING”. This is the effect of the sun on our skin. This photoaging is the most reversible damage to our skin and many creams and the ingredients in these creams are effective in treating it. Many new cosmeceuticals have been shown to be effective in reversing the signs of photoaging and preventing new damage. I’ll go into these ingredients in detail a bit later, but a few of these are Vitamin C, DMAE, alpha lipoic acid, acetyl hexapeptide 3, anti-oxidants such as idabenone and coenzyme Q and many more.
What about just old age’ This is a little harder to fix, since there is actual breakdown of the deeper layers of connective tissue of our skin. A few substances, such as DMAE are promising in treating “skin sagging” or this actual aging and breakdown of the skin.
So what is the best cream if I want to treat photo-aging’ Your best bet is cream that is moisturizing, containing hyaluronic acid, and contains a combination of the best cosmeceutical ingredients, since each one is going to target different areas. For example the all in one cream , Candesca, by Dr Rachel Skincare, contains just about every beneficial cosmeceutical that has been proven to be effective. If you pick a cream that has just one ingredient, you are hedging your bets that particular one will work for you. Also important is SPF. There’s really no point in treating photo-aging if you are going to continue the damage. Don’t you wish you knew that at age18!
